Quick Start Guide

Install the Extension

Click "Add to Chrome" and confirm the installation. LinePilot icon will appear in your toolbar.

Click Where to Start

On any webpage, click on any word where you want to start reading. A visual marker (▶) appears showing your starting point.

Press Alt + L

LinePilot instantly activates and starts guiding you through the text from that word at your chosen speed.

Control Your Reading

Press Space to pause or continue reading. Use [ and ] to adjust speed, or Esc to stop and exit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I adjust the reading speed? expand_more

Click the LinePilot icon in your toolbar to open the popup. Use the speed slider to adjust from 50 to 600 WPM. You can also use keyboard shortcuts: ] to speed up, [ to slow down.

Can I change the highlight color? expand_more

Yes! Open the LinePilot popup and scroll to the highlight settings. Choose from 6 different colors and customize the opacity to your preference.

Does LinePilot work on all websites? expand_more

LinePilot works on most websites that display text content. It may not work on some web apps with complex dynamic content or protected PDF viewers.

What is Training Mode? expand_more

Training Mode (Push-Pace) gradually increases your reading speed during a session to help you break through reading plateaus. Enable it in the popup settings and set how much and how often the speed increases.

Is my reading data collected? expand_more

No. LinePilot collects zero data. All your settings are stored locally on your device and never leave your browser. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use LinePilot on my phone? expand_more

Currently, LinePilot is only available for desktop Chrome browsers. Mobile support may be added in the future.

The extension isn't working. What should I do? expand_more

Try these steps:

  1. Refresh the page you're trying to read
  2. Click on a word on the page, then press Alt + L
  3. Check that the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions
  4. Try restarting your browser

How can I improve my reading speed? expand_more

Tips for faster reading:

  • Start at a comfortable speed and gradually increase it
  • Use Training Mode to push your limits
  • Practice daily for 10-15 minutes
  • Reduce subvocalization (saying words in your head)
  • Focus on comprehension, not just speed
